We invite you to know and invest in two of the planet’s richest biomes in terms of biodiversity.
The Caatinga and Cerrado astonish us with their landscape, great variety of fauna, flora, water resources and a huge socio-cultural diversity. Despite the various challenges, people from these biomes have interacted with their difficulties in an increasingly pro-active manner. Such reality can be shown in figures and by the growth and sustainability of enterprises which today operate in the domestic and international markets, leaving behind the stigma of lack of articulation and poverty, in order to become healthy communities, having as market differential a respectful relationship towards nature and the traditional knowledge. Â
From the perception of the potential of family agriculture products, which are fruits from this proposal, it is clear the need to extend the insertion, in a sustainable manner, in the domestic and international markets, enabling the society to access a new way to see and live with nature. In this sense, in 2008, the Caatinga Cerrado Comunidades Eco-Produtivas is born - a space for articulation of family agriculture networks and enterprises, for the promotion and trade of socio-biodiversity products from these two biomes. Such articulation is the result of deepening the debate among family agriculture supporting organizations and representatives, during events and business fairs, on the importance of capacity building of entrepreneurs in order for them to answer in a qualified and dynamic manner to the demands and requirements of these markets.
The Caatinga Cerrado Initiative, this year 2008, inside ExpoSustentat, opens the Caatinga Cerrado Room, a space which seeks to provide business opportunities to those involved with the new model of life, of thinking the environment and building the foundations for a future where socio-biodiversity is valued and preserved.
